Is It Safe to Use Glutathione? If Yes, Which Brand Should You Trust?

07 Aug 2025

A few months ago, I had no idea what glutathione even was. I kept seeing it mentioned in beauty groups, especially those posts where someone shows their before-and-after skin glow-up. I was curious, of course, but also cautious. Anything that promises skin whitening or detox always makes me skeptical. I mean, there’s so much nonsense out there, right?

So I started researching. And asking. And eventually… I tried it.

This isn’t a “scientific breakdown” or some textbook explanation. This is just me sharing what I’ve learned — the good, the confusing, and what worked.

So, What Happened When I Started Taking Glutathione Regularly?

In the beginning, I didn’t feel much. I started with a 500mg dose, just once a day, with vitamin C like I’d read online. For the first week or two, nothing drastic changed.

But by the third week? I noticed something.

  • My skin looked… fresher? Not brighter like I had a spotlight on me, but more even.
  • My digestion was smoother.
  • Not jittery. Just more alive.

I didn’t realize that glutathione is already in our bodies — it’s just that life (stress, junk food, lack of sleep, etc.) tends to wear it down. So by taking it regularly, I was just helping my system catch up again.

Does It Brighten Skin Like People Say?

Let’s talk about the glow.

Yes, it brightened my skin — but not in a way that made me look pale or artificial. It’s not bleaching. It’s more like your natural tone becomes clearer. I had a lot of uneven patches, especially around my mouth and forehead. And after about 6 weeks, those started to fade.

It wasn’t a dramatic transformation. It was gradual. Slow, but very real.

My dark underarms, acne spots, and hyperpigmentation on my jawline? They softened.

Injections vs. Tablets: Which One Is Safer?

This question haunted me for a while.

I’ve had friends who did glutathione drips — they swore by them. Some even saw changes in 2-3 weeks. But others had side effects: rashes, weird fatigue, and one even had to stop because her blood pressure crashed after a session.

I thought about trying injections… but honestly, it scared me. I didn’t want to risk it unless it was under real medical supervision.

Tablets felt safer. They take longer, yes, but they’re more manageable. And I can stop whenever I want. No needles. No appointments. No sketchy clinics. Just a routine I control.

So if you’re like me — a little cautious but still curious — start with tablets or capsules. They're not as intense, but they work overtime.

What’s the Difference Between L-Glutathione and Liposomal Glutathione?

This part confused me at first.

L-glutathione is the “basic” version. It’s the standard ingredient you’ll find in most supplements. Liposomal glutathione, on the other hand, is wrapped in a layer of fat so it absorbs better in your body.

I started with L-glutathione and still got results, but I noticed faster skin clarity once I switched to liposomal. It's pricier, yeah, but if you're serious about results, it might be worth trying after a few months.

Can You Take Glutathione Every Day? Is It Safe?

Your body already makes glutathione. You’re not adding a foreign substance.

That eased my mind.

Still, I was careful. I started slow.

But for most healthy adults, daily use (especially around 500–1000mg) is totally fine.

Who Should Avoid Glutathione? Just to Be Safe...

There are a few groups who shouldn’t jump into glutathione without checking with a doctor:

  • If you're pregnant or nursing
  • If you’re undergoing chemo or any intensive treatment
  • If you have liver or kidney disease
  • If you’ve ever had allergic reactions to sulfur-based compounds

For everyone else? Start small. Observe how your body reacts..

The Brand That Worked for Me

I’ve tried a few brands. Some were overpriced. Some did nothing. One even gave me nausea.

Then I found NUTRIFIZER Glutathione Capsules, and I’ve been using them ever since.

  • It has pure L-glutathione, plus added vitamin C and collagen
  • No bad reactions, even on an empty stomach
  • It did something, not just for my skin, but my energy, too
  • And it’s way more affordable than the trendy Instagram brands

So, Is Glutathione Worth It?

If you’re hoping to feel a bit better in your skin — both inside and out — then yes, glutathione is worth trying.

Just don’t expect it to do all the work for you. You still need sleep, hydration, a somewhat healthy diet, and patience. It’s not a shortcut. It’s a support.
